What is the Rice Purity Test?
The Rice Purity Test is a 100-question survey that people have been passing around for generations. It’s a lighthearted, self-reflective quiz about life experiences, covering relationships, parties, rule-breaking and everything in between. You start with 100 points and lose one for each “yes.” The lower your score, the more you’ve experienced.
It isn’t a measure of your worth, morality or maturity. It’s a snapshot and a conversation starter, and many people find it a fun way to see how their experiences have changed over time.
Where it came from
The test is traditionally traced back to Rice University in Houston, Texas, where students are said to have used it as early as the 1920s. It began as an icebreaker for incoming students, a way to bond, laugh and realise that everyone arrives with a different story. Over the decades it spread far beyond campus. Today it’s one of the most widely shared quizzes on the internet.
